Carbonated Bubble Mask Review

I think we have all seen lots of different types of carbonated bubble masks all over our Youtube and Instagram feed, so I thought I might as well give it a go and put in my two cents of what I think of them. After all, who doesn’t love a good bubble bath? (Even for your face).

I had a browse on Amazon and decided to order the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask for £8.99.

My first thought when the product arrived was how adorable the packaging was! However, as you can see, the instructions on the box are in South Korean, so without the helping hand of Google Translate, I would struggle reading this! But, with a quick search I managed to find a little bit more about this product and how to use it…

The mask is packed with Charcoal powder and as it carbonates it cleanses, exfoliates and unclogs pores. As it bubbles it sloughs off dead skin cells and lifts sebum and dirt which can clog off pores. It also claims to replenish the skin giving it a youthful glow!

So lets see if it did the trick…

I applied a thick layer all over my face and let it work it’s magic. I was quite excited to see how well it worked, and how crazy I would look. After about a minute I could feel the mask tingling away- not in a irritating way- but it almost felt like little bubbles popping all over my face. I left the mask on for 3-5 minutes as instructed, or until I began to look like a Sesame Street character, and then massaged the product into my face with warm water. I then washed my face thoroughly and patted dry.

My sin definitely felt refreshed and soft, and I’m sure with regular use I would begin to notice good results. I thought this mask looked like a lot of fun and would be a unique way to mix up my skin care routine, and it definitely was. I’ll be using it again the next time I want to give my skin a boost and a chilled spa night!

NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray Review

Probably like most makeup addicts in the UK, I’ve been loving how easy it is to pick up NYX products now (thank you Boots!) and the product I have been using pretty much every day is their Dewy Finish Setting Spray.

IMG_1385

The reason I went for the dewy finish over their matte finish setting spray is because I have very dry skin, and I hoped that this would help, or at least not cling to dry patches like powder does.

Now I’ll be honest, this is the first setting spray I have ever used, mainly due to the fact that I found other setting sprays quite pricey, and I never really thought I would benefit from it. It comes in a small bottle but it lasts for a while, and it doesn’t have a scent, which is good for me. Once I apply my foundation, concealer, bronzer & blusher, and blend, I evenly spray 2-3 pumps over my face. I wait about 15-20 seconds for it to become ‘tacky’- a little bit like when your waiting for eye lash glue to slightly dry before applying the lashes- and then I take my makeup sponge/beauty blender and gently pat my face. I’ve been doing this for a while and I find it really does set the makeup and leave a nice smooth finish. Before using this spray I always found my makeup to be patchy or even worn off by the end of the day, but now I find it looks pretty good after a long day at work!

Overall I’ve been super impressed with this product, and for £7 (from Boots) you can’t really go far wrong. Give it a go and let me know what you think! What other NYX product have you been loving?

April Birch Box Review

Every month my boyfriend gets the Loot Crate , which a monthly subscription box aimed towards gamers. Last month I got a little bit jealous so I decided I was going to order something similar for myself!

After a lot of deliberation, I finally decided to invest in a beauty box… and the one I chose was the Birch Box. I had heard really good reviews about them, and from looking at past boxes I was pretty impressed.

When this little beauty popped through my letter box I was so excited to open it up and see what goodies where inside!

Birch Box teamed up with Rifle Paper Co. and created gorgeous designs for the boxes. I received the Herb Garden box.

Benefit Bad Gal Lash

I had used this before, and it is a very good mascara. Personally I prefer the They’re Real Mascara from Benefit, as I find the brush is a lot more defining, however the Bad Gal Lash Mascara brush is very thick and good for adding va va voom to your lashes! It’s a small sample size which is great for travelling.

Kueshi Foot Care Cream

Apart from the odd pedicure, foot care is usually the last thing on my list. So it’s nice to have a little reminder from Birch Box to treat my feet once in a while. I used this when I had a pamper night the other week. It deeply moisturised my skin and got rid of those pesky dry patches on your heels.

Parlol By Jeff Chastain Detangling Leave-In Conditioner

I’ve used this several times as my hair can be quite dry. It definitely gives it a little boost and make it feel touch-ably soft and shiny.

So Susan Lip Dome

I found this very similar to the Clinique Chubby Stick. It is very moisturising and adds a subtle pop of colour!

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse

This is a multi purpose oil for hair and skin. I used it on my hands to try it out as soon as I opened the box, it has a lovely light scent and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling on your skin.Unfortunately it didn’t agree with my sensitive skin 😦 so it’s going to have to stay on my hair!

Over all I was quite impressed with the April Birch Box. Maybe it was the fact it was my first box, and the novelty may ware off, but I really hope it doesn’t.

Let’s see what Birch Box has for us in store in May! X

Special Delivery: Frank Body

The other week I decided to place another order for some Frank Body products. As you can tell by my previous post, I’m loving coffee scrubs! What’s there not to love? Not only does it buff away dry, flaky skin, but the caffeine content from the coffee stimulates blood flow which helps to clear up cellulite, stretch marks, psoriasis, varicose veins, eczema, acne and scarring!

The scrubs also contain various oils, salts, and vitamin E, which all have anti-inflammatory properties.

First of all, I definitely need to applaud Frank on their packaging! It came in a cute cardboard box with the best slogans printed on the inside of it. I think this definitely adds to the appeal of the products.

Frank was one of the first companies I had heard of that produced coffee scrubs so I thought I would order a some different things from them.

I decided to go for my old favourite, the ‘Original Body Scrub’. It has a basic coffee flavour, but it also smells like jaffas, which makes you feel so fresh! The scrub is very coarse, but as you can imagine this adds to it’s exfoliating properties. They recommend that you use this 3-5 times per week.

I then went for something a little bit smoother to use on my face, as I felt that the original scrub could be quite harsh sometimes. They have a gentle product range for specific use on the delicate skin on your face. I picked up the ‘Creamy Face Scrub’. I tried out this product as soon as it was delivered. It comes in a small tube as it is a lot creamier than the body scrubs. I wet my face and worked it into my skin by rubbing my fingers in small circles for about 30 seconds, then I waited  about 3 minutes for it to dry as the ingredients worked their magic on my skin. I then washed it off to reveal gorgeous smooth skin! I feel more comfortable in using this scrub a little more often than the other products as it definitely is more gentle on your face.

If you’re thinking of giving coffee scrubs a go, I’d 100% recommend that you give Frank Body a try! Go and show them some love back!

GROUNDED Coffee Scrub Review

Hello everyone!

I think I may have mentioned FRANK body scrub before in a previous post. I really loved it, but the only draw back was having to wait for it to be delivered when you ordered a packet online. However, I came across another coffee scrub that it available to purchase in store in Boots. Apparently this company was on Dragon’s Den promoting their product, and they were successful! Now they have launched a range of their products in Boots.

They had 3 different ‘flavours’ in store, Chocolate Orange, Coconut, and Grapefruit. I decided to go for grapefruit, as it seemed a bit different. I have also used the FRANK Original Scrub previously (similar to the Chocolate Orange Grounded one).

I think when I used the FRANK scrub, I don’t think I really knew how to use it properly, I would just use it quickly in the shower, but I when I was looking up reviews for it, I found out that you’re supposed to wet your skin, apply the product, then get scrubbing. Wait for it to dry for 10-15 minutes, then rinse it off. Probably the worst part is the thought sitting around in a cold bathroom in Winter for that long, haha! This ensures that the ingredients in the scrub works into the skin, and then you see the benefits! When I did this, I really noticed the difference straight away, and now I always look forward to using it.

The product is very gritty and rough, but that’s what you’d expect from something made from coffee grounds and sugar I guess! The scrub seems quite dry but once you rub it into your skin you feel the essential oils and it softens up a little bit. I’d also prepare yourself for the mess your shower will be afterwards! But you can easily wash it away.

The ingredients in the scrub that I have are: Coffee Robusta Seed Powder, Coffee, Sucrose, Brown Sugar, Sea Salt, Sodium Chloride, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Vitamin E, Citrus Paradisi, Grapefruit Extract Oil, and Limonene. – Yep I can’t pronounce most of those either!

IMG_0260.jpg

My skin felt so soft afterwards! After a week of using it I’ve noticed a bit of a difference in my stretch marks on my thighs and the little scars I have from getting my appendix removed in 2009.

The place where I’ve noticed the biggest difference is my face. I’ve been going through a big eczema flare up around my cheeks and chin recently and this is the only thing that really seems to be working. I’ll give you all an update in a couple of week time if it cures it!

I think I’m definitely going to try the different flavours that they have in the rest of their range. What one’s would you recommend?

Let me know if you’ve tried the Grounded Coffee Scrub and what you think of it!

Skin Care & Hair Care Haul

Over the last few weeks I’ve picked up a few items from Boots. They’re things I’ve wanted for a wee while as well as some spontaneous purchases!

Skin:

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

My friend recomended I’d try this cream as I get patches of dry skin as well as really chapped lips (especially in the Winter!). The smell is a bit unusual, but nice. It is more of a balm consistency than a cream but I feel like this adds to the moisturising properties and helps to really protect the skin. I’ve been using it for around 3 weeks now and I’m loving it. Its a skin saviour for the cold Winter months!

Eucerin Replenishing Face Cream

I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned my skin problems in previous posts but I suffer from eczema pretty badly, especially on my face. I’ve tried pretty much every cream on the market but I had yet to try Eucerin. I read some good reviews on it and I thought I’d give it a go. It’s creamy and really feels like it plumps up and and soothes the skin. I’ll be back to give you a proper review!

Nip + Fab Skin Glycolic Scrub Fix

I needed to invest in a new exfoliator and while I was browsing the shelves this one caught my eye. It doesn’t feel too rough but my skin feels super smooth once I’ve used it.

Hair:

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Dry Shampoo

The one piece of hair care advice I always get is to not wash your hair everyday! I’m definitely guilty of this, and so I thought I’d start properly using dry shampoo to help me achieve this. L’Oreal brought out the new ‘Extraordinary Clay’ collection recently which promises to give less oily roots and conditioned ends. The spray smells very fresh and doesn’t leave a white residue like other dry shampoos do.

Toni & Guy Nourish Reconstruction Mask

Recently I’ve been feeling that despite regular conditioning, my hair skill feels dry, as well as really heat damaged from over use of heat styling 😦 you may have read my previous post on the ’30 day no heat challenge’ that I’m attempting to do to try and make my hair a bit healthier! I thought I’d start using a weekly hair mask to try to treat my hair and help it look and feel a bit better. I’ll probably put this on my hair while soaking in the bath during one of my pamper nights… Bliss!
