L’Oreal Low Shampoo Review

Since I’ve started wearing my hair natural more often, I’ve done a lot of research into how to keep my hair healthy. The majority of the advice I’ve found is that conditioning is the go to for curly hair- so I invested in various hair masks to try and soften and hydrate my locks. I wanted to know what the best shampoo was to use for curly- and coloured hair, and I stumbled across rave reviews on Low Shampoo.

Low Shampoo is sulphate free (=no foam) which gently cleanses hair, removes impuritiesย and conditions in one step. Sounds brilliant right? The product states that you should use this 1-2 x per week in place of your current hair care routine, however I’ll admit I’ve been using it a bit more.

The Low Shampoo I purchased and have been using religiously is the L’Oreal Elvive Colour Protect Low Shampoo.

To use this product you apply 10-15 pumps (yep this sounds like a lot, but you get a fair amount of product in the bottle) from your roots to the ends of your hair. I massage the shampoo into my scalp and rest of my hair to ensure I get a good clean. I them leave it on for about 3 minutes while I do the rest of my shower routine. After a few minutes I rinse my hair thoroughly, and style my hair as I normally would.

I’ve found that after using this product my hair feels clean however very conditioned. I’ve been finding my hair hasn’t been feeling as greasy as it usually has been when I used ordinary shampoo and conditioner. I’m currently on my second bottle and still really enjoying using the product.

I feel that this product works very well for naturally curly hair, as it deeply conditions the curls without making it too greasy or drying it out, which equals frizz!

Curly Hair Styling Saviours

As I may have mentioned in a previous post, I have naturally curly hair. As any fellow curly girls will know, you cannot control curly hair.. and no matter how hard you try, each day is a completely different story with your locks. However, there are a huge variety of styling products out there that may try and tame your curls. These are a few of my favourite products that I have tried and tested and always come back to over the years…

First up, is my all time favourite styling product… My Tangle Teezer! I think this is a must forย any type of hair. It’s so gentle and smooths out any tangles just like that. I use it to brush conditioner through my hair when I’m washing it, and I also use it when my hair is dry when I have straightened it. This is the second one I’ve owned, and it won’t be the last.

When it comes to washing my hair, I’m generally not too fussed about what I use to clean it (yeah, I know I probably should be!) But at least once a week I try to use a deep conditioning mask on my hair. Curly hair tends to be drier and so needs some extra care. The mask that I have been loving is the Toni & Guy Nourish Reconstruction Mask. I love the smell of Toni & Guy products, and the conditioner is so creamy and thick it really feels like it’s working wonders on your locks.

The next 4 styling products I don’t use all together everyday, as it depends on what my hair is doing that day. Whether it needs a little moisture boost or smoothing out, at least one of these will do the trick.

Wella Luxe Oil Reconstructive Elixir– This contains almond, jojoba, and argan oil. My hair stylist recomended this years ago, and I still use it. I tend to use it straight after washing on wet hair. However you can use it on dry hair to tame flyaways. It has a very sweet smell and nourishes my hair without weighing it down.

John Freida Frizz Ease Original Serum– I’ve read so many rave reviews on the Frizz Ease range. A little goes a long way with this serum. When I find my hair ย is behaving and just needs a little smoothing out, I use one pump of this and it eliminates frizz completely.

Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Finishing Touch Cream– I use a small amount of this occasionally when I want my hair to have some looser curls. It smells like violets and adds a bit of freshness to your hair.

Inecto Naturals Smooth Me Coconut Hair Serum– I picked this hair serum up at Body Care (beauty bargain heaven!) as I wanted to see if a cheap serum would work as well as some of the more pricey ones. You only need a tiny amount. I work it into my ends first then run the rest through my hair.ย The coconut smell lasts all day. It’s comes in a handy little tube so it’s great for travelling. I’ll definitely be buying this again.
